Focus turns to longterm recovery for fire survivors

OKANOGAN — Just as it took three teams to fight the 256,108-acre Carlton Complex fires, three teams will also be working to help its victims.

“It became really clear that each community really needed to be personally represented,” said Lael Duncan, executive director of the Okanogan County Community Action Council. That’s the agency overseeing long-term recovery efforts for the 300 families who lost homes, and hundreds of others affected by the largest wildfire in Washington’s history.
