Burnout set to strengthen Duncan Fire containment

ENTIAT — Smoke from an intentionally-set burnout on the Duncan Fire should be clearing today from the Entiat Valley and Lake Chelan area, Forest Service spokeswoman Robin DeMario said this morning.

The 400-acre burnout began at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday near the Silver Falls Campground up the Entiat River Road. A smoke plume could be seen for most of the afternoon by residents in Chelan and Douglas counties.
