Howard Maxwell Ashberger

November 3, 1915 ~ January 31, 2014

Howard was born in White Cloud, KS on November 3, 1915, and passed into the arms of Jesus January 31, 2014, in Wenatchee, WA. Howard came to Orondo, WA in 1939, and started working for Newt Stannard. Howard had been a truck driver and construction worker, along with doing orchard work. He attended the Orondo Community Church and served on the Orondo Cemetery Board. He married Emma Erlandson in Washington, KS in 1940, at Washington Presbyterian Church. After their marriage, they moved to Orondo, WA. Gary Ashberger, their son, was born in Wenatchee in 1942. Howard and Emma lived in Orondo and eventually bought an orchard, which he farmed until the ‘70’s. Emma passed away in January of 1983. Howard started courting Yvonne George in 1987, after the death of her husband in 1983. Howard proposed to Yvonne as they walked in her small orchard. He told her he had a house and she had a house, but together they could make a home, which they did September 6, 1987. Howard and Yvonne enjoyed 24 years marriage, until she passed away in 2011. Howard and Yvonne traveled all over the United States, pulling their trailer on the back roads when they could visit family and sightseeing.

Howard leaves behind the Gary Ashberger family and Diana McLean and family.

The families would like to thank the staff at Blossom Valley for their wonderful care and love for Howard.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 13, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at Eastmont Presbyterian Church, 200 S. Kentucky, East Wenatchee. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Orondo Community Church, or your favorite charity. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
