MANSON — One frozen valve in the Manson Elementary School’s fire suppression system will cost the district’s insurance carrier an estimated $250,000 in damages, Superintendent Matt Charlton said Thursday.

The school flooded Feb. 9 when a frozen valve in the attic thawed and popped off, causing water to flow through two floors of the building.

By the time an alarm system alerted officials, a third of the school had water damage, including several classrooms, hallways, a stairway and three bathrooms.
