State swimming: Wenatchee’s Vargas breaks own school record

FEDERAL WAY — Wenatchee sophomore swimmer Jared Vargas saved his best for last as the sophomore set two school records at the 4A Boys State Swim/Dive Championships on Friday.

Vargas raised the bar in both races he competed in. He finished fourth overall with a time of 59.23 seconds in the 100 yard breastroke and tied for ninth in the 200 individual medley consolation final at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
