KIEV, Ukraine — A former presidential aide despised by protesters has been shot and wounded, his spokesman said today, raising fears of retaliation as Ukraine charts a new tumultuous political course.

Andriy Klyuyev, who was President Viktor Yanukovych’s chief of staff until Sunday, was wounded by gunfire on Monday and hospitalized, his spokesman, Artem Petrenko, told The Associated Press.
