Alice F. Zones
Alice F. Zones, 83, a lifetime resident of Waterville, WA, passed away peacefully at Central Washington Hospital on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, with her children at her side. Alice was born October 4, 1930, to Victor and Hester Sharar in Wenatchee, WA. On July 11, 1951, Alice was joined in marriage to Thomas Zones of Waterville at the Federated Church, with a reception following at the Reid family home. From this union came three children, Richard Dennis in 1953, Shirley Dawn in 1956, and Michael Thomas in 1959. In her early years of marriage, she worked at the Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Waterville. Alice was a Camp Fire Girls Leader for a few years. Mom very much enjoyed the time spent at the cabin up the Entiat with her husband and children. Family and friends were often invited. Alice farmed alongside her husband, Thomas, until his passing in 1983, and continued to be active with the farming operation until she retired. Alice owned and operated A & Z Floral in Waterville from 1975 to the early 90’s. Mom and dad loved freshwater fishing at the local lakes and spent many years traveling to Westport to fish for salmon and tuna. Alice has now been joined with her parents; the love of her life, Thomas; her oldest son, Richard; and her brothers and sisters in their heavenly home.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas, in 1983; oldest son, Richard, in 2010; three brothers, Victor, Ralph and Carroll; and five sisters, Helen, Verna, Doris, Fay and Kay. Survivors include daughter, Shirley (Larry) Auvil of Orondo; son, Michael Zones of Waterville; four grandchildren, Brandon (Amber) Zones of Waterville, Danielle (Brad) Kesterson of Westport, Blane (Victoria) Zones of Spokane Valley, and Kalee Auvil of Orondo; six great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Harlie, Alexander, Mason, Cassandra and Benjamin; brother-in-law, John (Eileen) Zones of Waterville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waterville Federated Church, with Interment following at the Waterville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Waterville Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Waterville Federated Guild.
