Uptate, 2:45 p.m. The crack discovered in a spillgate support pier at Wanapum Dam measures 2 inches wide by 65 feet long, a spokesman for the Grant County PUD said this afternoon.

The PUD will draw the reservoir behind the dam down another 14 feet by Tuesday for a total expected drawdown of 20 feet, PUD spokesman Tom Stredwick said this afternoon. The drawdown is to reduce pressure on the dam and help ensure the area remains stable. No further movement has been detected at the pier since the irregularity was detected Tuesday.
