WVC basketball: Defense a strength for Knights squads

The Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges East Region will feature, as usual, some really good men’s and women’s basketball teams this season — some of the NWAACC’s best, in fact. Year in and year out, the East is considered to be one of the circuit’s toughest, most competitive and talented regions.

Nonetheless, the Wenatchee Valley College squads believe they’ll be able to break their respective postseason droughts and earn one of the East’s four playoff berths. Both squads finished their non-East schedules late last month with records that look somewhat pedestrian (the men are 6-7, and the women are 8-7), but both teams played well at their last December tournament, giving them renewed confidence as they begin East play Wednesday at Spokane.
