Appeal from Kitterman murderer turned aside by court

SPOKANE — The woman who carried out the 2009 murder of Tonasket victim Michelle Kitterman failed Thursday to overturn her conviction before the state Court of Appeals.

Tansy Fay-Arwen Mathis, 33, argued that a flawed jury instruction should have invalidated her conviction for aggravated murder and five related charged in the killing of Kitterman, 25, whom Mathis and two subordinates murdered for hire at the behest of Lacey K. Hirst-Pavek. Both Mathis and Hirst-Pavek are imprisoned for life without possibility of parole.
