Margaret Soland

East Wenatchee, WA

Margaret Soland, 84, of East Wenatchee, WA, died Friday, January 3, 2014. She was born on November 8, 1929, in Chester, PA to John and Maud Bonesteel. She grew up in Glenside, PA and graduated from Beaver College, which is now known as Arcadia University, with two Masters Degrees, one in Education and the other in Corrections. In 1958, she moved to California, where she worked for the California Youth Authority at the Ventura School for Girls as a teacher and recreation director. She married Donald Soland in Las Vegas, NV on July 28, 1962. They made their home in Carpenteria, CA until August of 1970, when they moved to East Wenatchee. She worked as the Executive Director for North Central Washington Camp Fire in Wenatchee from 1971 to 1996. She loved to fish in the Wenatchee and Columbia Rivers and many of the local lakes with her husband and dear friend, Jane.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen Wilson and her husband, James of Bothell, WA; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Josh Wilson of Bothell, WA. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a brother, Evan Phillips.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Central Washington Camp Fire. Arrangements assisted by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA.
