Ometa Moore

April 28, 1928 ~ January 11, 2014

Ometa Moore, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, in the loving and compassionate atmosphere of Autumn Gardens Adult Family Home, with her devoted and caring friend, Patty, by her side. Ometa was born April 28, 1928, to Effie and Joseph Heflin in Blytheville, AR. She was married to Harold Moore on November 30, 1947. She lived in Memphis, TN with her husband and three children, before moving to the Wenatchee Valley in 1962. Ometa took care of her family full time. Later, when her youngest child went to junior high, she went to work as a fruit sorter at Wenoka, Chief Wenatchee, and Cascadian Fruit Warehouses until she retired. Ometa was well known for her beautiful, sparkling smile; she never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren all spent an enormous amount of time with her on her living room floor, playing with cars, dolls or just reading. Ometa took pride in her church and made sure she shared her faith and trust in God with all of her children, grandchildren, and even her great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly by her family. If you didn’t know Ometa, you missed out. She was one-of-a-kind and a pure blessing to all those who met her. Ometa was truly an angel sent from God to take care of all things that crossed her path.

She leaves behind one brother, Bud Heflin; two sisters, Betty Franklin and Hazel Teigeler; her two daughters, Jannette (Donnie) Smith and Rita Dirk; her daughter-in-law, Jodie Moore; five grandchildren, Tami Partin, Dawn Smith, Danielle Harum, Brad Moore and Nick Dirk; eight great-grandchildren, Cody Whalen, Kyler Anderson, Corey and Casey Strain, Nathan and Adam Partin, and Shelby and Jemma Adams; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Moore; her son, Dan Moore; and granddaughter, Tina Strain.

Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2014, at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, prior to the Service at Jones & Jones~Betts Memorial Chapel in Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. Please express your thoughts and memories on the online guestbook at Arrangements are by Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home.
