The update on the wolves observed in Chelan County last spring (The World, Dec. 27) is appreciated, but your choice of words could have been better. Terrorize is “to cause (someone) to be extremely afraid: to force (someone) to do something by using threats or violence” (Merriam-Webster.com). This word is used in the press, sadly all too often, in the context of bombings and shootings. Were the wolves terrorizing a ranch? The article implies that no wolf kills (wild or domestic) have been documented, so they had only shown their presence.
