WENATCHEE — A layer of high pressure over North Central Washington will likely continue until the weekend, trapping stagnant air and warding off any fresh storms that could flush atmospheric crud from the region’s valleys.

“Right now, there’s nothing in the forecast that would kick out that ridge of high pressure,” said Jeffrey Cote, a forecaster for the National Weather Service in Spokane. “The storm we need to scour away the inversion just isn’t there right now.”
