NCW — Over 11,000 North Central Washington residents either signed up for a private health insurance plan through the state’s exchange or are newly enrolled in Medicaid, according to a newly released state report.

The vast majority — 8,588 — are now on Medicaid, a state- and federally sponsored healthcare plan. The remaining 2,560 signed up for a private health plan through the newly created Washington Health Plan Finder. Many of those plans are subsidized by the federal government, based on income.
