LEAVENWORTH — Cascade School District hopes voters won’t mind a $1.29 boost next year to their property tax rates to improve schools and athletic centers.

If the district’s safety and health levy passes Feb. 11, that $1.29 per $1,000 of assessed property value would drop in 2016 to $1.26, ultimately raising an estimated $5.27 million. The funds would go to renovate interiors, floors and ventilation at Icicle River Middle School, improve athletic facilities at Dryden, Peshastin and Leavenworth and put a new coat of paint on the venerable Beaver Valley Elementary School in Plain.
