Gordon Barry Sutor

May 29, 1940 ~ June 27, 2014

Gordon passed away peacefully at home Friday, June 27, 2014, at the age of 74, with family and love near him. Gordon was blessed to have been able to speak with his whole extended family before passing on.

Gordon graduated from Waterville High School in 1958, and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1968, during which time he married, settled in Alaska and produced four beautiful children. Flying became an obsession and when separated, he came back to Waterville. With his own plane, he was able to travel back and forth to various forest fire jobs, flying for Hawkins & Powers, with many wonderful stories to tell. During a break from this, he met and married his true sole mate and love, Paula. Gordon flew for a short time for Wilbur Flying as a spray pilot. He settled down and bought into Town & Country Insurance, then becoming Dorsey and Sutor Insurance and worked as an agent until his retirement. During this time, he acquired a portion of farm ground from his father’s inheritance. Gordon and Paula then established Wheatland Farms, Inc. and became ‘weekend farmers’. Farming was his dream, and with the help of his son, Troy, grandson, Kris, brother-in-law, Rush, son-in-law, Jerry, and most recent son-in-law, Will, he was able to get through harvests. When his health was declining, the help from the Waterville Ranchers was immeasurable. His cousin, Dick Stoddard, was always there to answer and help with any questions. Gordon would tell so many wonderful stories and had great pictures. He was a life member of the Badger Mountain Lodge 57; Scottish Rite; member of the Chelan Eagles; Shriners; and he held the position on the Waterville School Board through his youngest daughter’s high school years, presenting her with her high school diploma. It was very important to Gordon to spent his lunch time each day at Knemeyers, playing Pinochle with his very dear friends. He will be so missed, but we are so blessed to have the memories. He will always be with us.

Gordon was preceded in passing by his cousin, Clint Stoddard, by 12 days; parents, Jack and Helen Sutor; and brothers-in-law, Stuart Delaney and Bob Bagdon. Gordon is survived by his wife, Paula; daughters, Corinna (Kim) Hansen, Sharmon (Jerry) Johnson, Katrina Sutor, and Kim (Will) Adams; son, Troy Sutor and extended family, Jode (Ken) Allison, Dee (Jamie) Mendall; grandchildren, Kris, Karla, EJ, Heidi, Jordan, Dallas, Lauren; extended grandchildren, David, Jacob, Alyssa and Zach; nephews, Mark and Scott Miller, and Adrian Sutor; nieces, Elaine and Melinda; his brother, Terry Sutor; and sister, Kathleen Miller.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Sutor home in Waterville on Saturday afternoon, July 12, 2014. Please stop by with your stories, memories and pictures. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waterville Ambulance, the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.

We love you and will miss you, Gordon.
