Lawrence L. “Butch” Buse

Lawrence L. “Butch” Buse, a lifelong resident of Waterville, WA, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2014. He was born to Otto and Amelia (Daling) Buse on May 4, 1931, in Waterville. After graduating from Waterville High School, Butch attended Gonzaga University and got a Bachelor’s degree in business. Butch married the love of his life, Pauline Danielson, on November 13, 1955. Professionally, Butch enjoyed his position of County Executive Director, for what is now known as the USDA Farm Service Agency of Douglas County, WA. Butch was called home to farm after the death of his brother. He farmed until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of many organizations: Washington State Wheat Growers, Waterville Lions, Douglas County Historical Society; he served on the Waterville School Board, Central Washington Grain Growers Board of Directors, Farm Service Agency Douglas County Committee and many committees at the United Lutheran Church in Waterville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly; granddaughter, Haley Rood; his parents; a brother, Jack Buse; and sisters, Anne Obergh, Margaret Ogden and Ida Jarvis. Butch is survived by his daughters, Mardy (LeeRoy) Jordan of Waterville, Meridith Rood of Edmonds and Mia (Brian) Buse-Stone of North Bend; grandchildren, Christopher Rood, Heath Jordan and Abby (Josh) O’Brien; great grand-daughters, Elli and Austyn O’Brien; many nieces nephews and friends that were very dear to him.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2014, at the United Lutheran Church in Waterville. Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Waterville Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Waterville Ambulance Fund, American Diabetes Association or Charity of your choice.
