Marianne M. Haubner

Leavenworth, WA

Marianne M. Haubner, 81, a resident of Leavenworth for the past 22 years, died Friday July 4, 2014, at Confluence Health Care Hospital in Wenatchee. She was born April 1, 1933, to Karl and Anna (Schafer) Kaufmann at Langenselbold, Hanau, Germany, where she was raised and educated. On October 18, 1952, Marianne married the love of her life, Frank Haubner at Hanau, Germany. Marianne worked as a secretary in several different offices due to her education in business and administration. Frank’s Military Officer’s career required moving to several cities around Germany and the United States, including Spokane and therefore, Marianne devoted her efforts to being the best homemaker and companion to Frank. While Frank served in Viet Nam, Marianne lived in Germany with her mother. After Frank’s retirement, they made their home in Spokane for 21 years and then to Leavenworth, where Marianne had a great sense of hospitality and loved to entertain. She was a devoted and faithful member of Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church; she loved gardening, was an accomplished gourmet cook and painter and also enjoyed traveling to Germany and especially, in later years, to Hawaii. Marianne also enjoyed keeping in close contact with her brothers in Germany.

She is survived by her brothers, Karl Kaufmann and Horst Kaufmann both of Germany; and her godson, Christopher Mildes of Mead. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son and her husband, Frank, on March 16, 2014.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ward’s Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church in Leavenworth. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery following the Mass. Ward’s Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth, is in charge of the arrangements.
