MATTAWA—The Grant County Health District is responding to a cluster of whooping cough cases in migrant farmworkers near Mattawa and Quincy.
The district is investigating three laboratory-confirmed cases and 210 people who came in contact with people who had pertussis. No-one has been hospitalized.
“Preventing severe disease and death in infants is our highest priority,” said Dr. Alexander Brzezny, Grant County Health Officer. He said all pregnant women and children should get vaccinated.
