Muriel “Babe” McHenry

December 4, 1923 ~ July 10, 2014

Muriel “Babe” McHenry, 90, born December 4, 1923, in Divide, OR, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, in Des Moines, WA. Babe was clothed in strength and dignity until Alzheimer’s disease took it away. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Richard “Mac” McHenry; two brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia L. Stoess and Maureen J. (Ron) Mosman, all of Wenatchee; six grandchildren, Sven Roaldson of Rathdrum, ID, George (Gina) Stoess of Des Moines, WA, Kimberly Stoess of Wenatchee, Kjersta (Cory) Loyd of Magnolia, TX, Missy (Darren) Days of Tomball, TX, and Wendy Bradford of Mill Creek, WA; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Babe was a 57 year resident of Chelan, WA, where she greeted many at the O. Jim Forney Insurance Agency, retired as the then highest ranking woman in the DOL in 1990, and moved to Wenatchee in 2005. She was an active member of numerous organizations, was a Camp Fire Leader, honored with the Gulick Award by Camp Fire and Rainbow for Girls, serving three years as District 12 Grand Deputy. Babe was a dedicated member of the Order of Eastern Star; had dual memberships in Silver Star Chapter of Chelan, serving multiple times as Worthy Matron and Astral Chapter of Wenatchee. She served as Worthy Grand Matron of Washington 1993-1994.

Interment will be conducted at the Chelan County Cemetery. At the request of the deceased and her family, services will remain private. Contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Ct. Dr., Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871-1950.
