We can appreciate local service organizations before times of crisis, but especially during a crisis, and during any crisis it would be shameful to overlook the work of the Apple Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Just perusing the chapter’s Facebook page, we find that in the last week it has responded to three house fires and aided six families. It has opened three shelters for fire evacuees, and fed 400 firefighters at four locations in two counties. It’s a cliché to say they are there when you need them, but they really are there when you need them.
