WENATCHEE — Overwhelming response from volunteers, competitors, spectators and the community helped raise a record amount at the final Andrew York Lineman Rodeo last month, adding $37,000 to the memorial scholarship fund.

The event honors the memory of Andrew York, a Chelan PUD journeyman lineman who died in 2000 after he was hit while on the job by a drunken driver. The event’s mission was to raise awareness of the tragedies caused by impaired driving and the dangers of not wearing seat belts.
