Doris I. (Sorensen) Bonwell

September 18, 1928 ~ May 24, 2014

Doris I. (Sorensen) Bonwell passed away at Valley Care Center in Okanogan on May 24, 2014. She was born September 18, 1928, to Lewis and Ruth Sorensen in Brewster, WA. She lived most of her life in Manson, WA. She married John E. Bonwell February 17, 1951, in Lewiston, ID. They had one child, Barbara. Doris helped her husband, John, in the orchard industry as they raised apples in Manson. She continued to manage the orchard long after John’s death in 1980.

Doris was preceded in death by her father, Lewis P. Sorensen; husband, John; and a brother, Sander Sorensen. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Sorensen of Chelan; her daughter, Barbara Tyrrell of Riverside, WA; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services for Doris Bonwell will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Chelan’s Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the American Cancer Society.
