SELAH — Any time a Yakima River spring chinook salmon is hooked, played and caught, one of two things will happen.

If it’s a hatchery fish — identified by its missing adipose fin and the scar from its removal — it will be quickly bonked on the head and put on ice, and will eventually end up on the angler’s dinner table.
