A 13-month-old boy was stung 15-20 times by honey bees when he got too close to hives kept by his family.

Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal said the boy was playing near the five hives when he was swarmed around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Gjesdal, who was nearby, was the first emergency responder at the scene in the 3100 block of Sunset Highway north of East Wenatchee.
