City celebrates old festival with new name

CASHMERE — The name change may not sit well with some, but the spirit was unchanged as the community turned out in large numers for the first Celebrate Cashmere Festival.

People crowded into downtown for a morning parade, then filled Riverside Park for games, food and the popular ping pong ball drop. As the temperature approached 80, the fire station was the hot spot as children, parents, dogs and even a bicyclists darted through the spray of fire hoses.
