Rita Mladineo Brown

September 26, 1964 ~ March 1, 2014

Rita Mladineo Brown, 49, died March 1, 2014, in Wenatchee, WA, after a life well lived. Rita’s vibrant personality lit up every room and no one who met her left without a smile. Her warmth, elegance and passion for life inspired all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Rita was born in New Orleans, LA on September 26, 1964. She grew up in Renton, WA and attended college at Western Washington University, where she met the love of her life, John Brown. After graduating, Rita and John married and moved to Wenatchee, where they have raised their amazing children (Nicole, 23, Hayley, 20 and Mason, 12) and lived for 27 years.

Rita had a successful career in communications, where her boundless energy and enthusiasm led to a number of interesting positions, including media consulting, Station Manager & Development Director for Northwest Public Radio, and Executive Director of the Wenatchee Performing Arts Center.

In spite of her lengthy illness, Rita retained her optimism and sense of humor. Her first priority was always to her family and her wide circle of friends. She was a fiercely loyal cheerleader to her parents, Joan and Tony Mladineo; her siblings and their spouses, Jan and Nelson Davis, Greg and Karen Mladineo, Judy Mladineo and Jeff Morgan, and Rob Mladineo; her niece and nephews, Mark Mladineo, Jennifer Mladineo, Patrick Moran, Kevin Brown and Kyle Brown; her aunts, uncles, cherished cousins and the many friends and neighbors who made up her extended family.

Rita’s greatest life lesson to us: Choose Joy!
