YAKIMA — All season long, the Cashmere girls basketball team has thrived because of its defense. The Bulldogs have a lot of athletic, experienced, basketball-savvy players that can excel in a variety of different defensive schemes that head coach Brent Darnell likes to deploy and change at regular intervals.

Through the first 25 games of the season, it was virtually impossible for any of Cashmere's opponents to go on an extended scoring run — 8-0, 12-2, something like that — and when teams don't go on offensive runs, it can be very hard to win.
