WENATCHEE — Bill Huffman came close to dying last April. Hospice was called in to care for him in his final days. But he fought back. There was too much yet to do. Too many people yet to help.
“I still had a lot of pictures to paint,” said Huffman, 88. Huffman has been a prolific oil painter the past two years, expanding on an art interest he’s dabbled at for more than 30 years. He’s also done pictorial wood carvings for 50 years. The walls of his north Wenatchee home are covered with many of the more than 350 paintings he’s completed, sometimes as many as five in a single day.
