Sharon Donette Tipton

June 8, 1941 ~ February 27, 2014

Sharon Donette (Cox) Tipton entered Heaven on February 27, 2014. She will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laughter and bright blue eyes!

Sharon was born in Wenatchee, WA on June 8, 1941, and grew up on the beautiful south shores of Lake Chelan, WA. She graduated from Chelan High School and continued her secondary education graduating from Griffin-Murphy Business College in Seattle, WA. Sharon worked for the Washington State Department of Commerce and the Washington State Governor’s office from 1960 to 1964, then later retired from the City of Lacey in 2001. Sharon married Guy Rexford Tipton Jr. in Chelan, July 21, 1962. They raised two children in Lacey, prior to relocating to Chelan in 2001. Sharon was an active member of the Lake Chelan Hospital Guild, volunteered at the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Lake Chelan Eagles. She enjoyed traveling, camping, collecting antiques, dancing and spending quality time with family and friends.

Sharon is survived by her devoted daughter, Meegan Marie Normandeau and husband, Robert; and her son, Kevin Rex Tipton and wife, Saundra. Her grandchildren were the stars of her life, Jacob Rexford and Carlyn Nicole, as well as six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Sharon is also survived by her sister-in-law, Linda Cox; and by her wonderful partner, Raymond “Pat” Rhea, whom she shared many years of love and companionship. And we mustn’t forget, Laci Lane, for those of you who have spent time with Mom, there is no doubt she shared many pictures and stories about our beloved Havanese. Her husband, Guy Rexford Tipton Jr., parents, Opal and Mack Cox, and brother, Larry Cox, predeceased Sharon.

A Celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 120 E. Woodin Avenue, Chelan, WA 98816 on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Lake Chelan Eagles from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Private Interment will be at Chelan Fraternal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Sharon had requested all donations be made in her name to her Great-Grandson’s Autism Fund, Aleksander, 7309 25th Avenue East, Tacoma, WA 98404 or directly at www.youcaring.com/zandersworld
