Updated: Train traffic resumes, but more track repairs needed after derailment

ROCK ISLAND — A short BNSF Railway freight train derailed near Rock Island Dam early Monday morning, causing minor damage to the tracks and halting train traffic along the busy route.

No one was injured when the train — two engines pulling 10 cars and tankers — jumped the tracks at a train crossing used by Chelan County PUD employees at the dam, BNSF spokesman Gus Melonas said.
