Sherry Ann Coonan

September 2, 1927 ~ March 6, 2014

Sherry Ann Coonan, 86, passed away peacefully at Avalon Adult Family Home surrounded by her family on March 6, 2014. Sherry was born on September 2, 1927, in Spokane, WA and was a lifelong resident of Waterville, WA. Sherry graduated Salutatorian of Waterville High School, class of 1945. After graduation, she married Larry Coonan in 1946. Sherry began her career as a legal secretary working for several attorneys, including Ned Kimball, Mike Tabler, Fred Van Sickle, and Judith L. McCauley. She retired from the Douglas County Prosecutor’s Office, where she later enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, a bit of traveling and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bill and Edith Farthing; husband, Larry Coonan; and daughter-in-law, Susan Coonan. Sherry is survived by daughters, Karma Preugschat (Albert) of Bridgeport, WA, Korene Greenwood (Gary), and son, Kerry Coonan both of Waterville. She is also survived by many loving grandchildren: Shane Preugschat and Shelbie Hively, both of Spokane, WA, Tyler and Brycen Greenwood of Waterville, Kaelee Kae Henton of Spokane, Devin Coonan of Waterville, and Kaitlin Coonan of Coulee City, WA; and three great-grandchildren, Madisen and Dylan Hively and Honistee Moore. Her life-long friend, James “Bus” Carroll of Waterville, also survives her.

Sherry’s family would especially like to thank the caregivers of Avalon Adult Family Home for their care over the last two years.

At Sherry’s request, there will be No Services held. Arrangements by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley.
