Gov. Jay Inslee paints a bowl for Upper Valley MEND’s Empty Bowls Festival benefiting the Community Cupboard food bank in Leavenworth.

The fundraiser, now in its 18th year, generates money two ways — from tickets sales to a March 20 soup supper and the other half through an artist bowl auction. The soup supper begins at 5:30 p.m. at Cascade High School. The bowl auction, featuring the works of Inslee and area artists, is partially on-air on KOHO Radio and online at uvmend.org. Bidding ends at 8:30 p.m. March 19.
