Short-lived iceberg: Here’s a chilling occurrence. For a few of days last week, an iceberg roughly the size of a football field was floating around Lake Chelan. Boaters were warned; snow-cone lovers rejoiced.
Our buddies at the community website Go Lake Chelan posted the first warning of the iceberg last Monday. Resident Alan Brooks reported that an iceberg about 300 feet long, 150 feet wide and 100 feet deep had formed after a lakeside avalanche above Big Creek dumped snow and debris into the lake.
