WENATCHEE — The city will seek a private lender to refinance the Wenatchee Convention Center’s outstanding debt because of the city’s low bond rating and bad reputation in the public financing arena.

The city is looking at borrowing about $3.5 million from a bank or other lending institution to pay off the center’s $2 million debt and to make up to $1.5 million in renovations and upgrades to the aging facility.
