WENATCHEE — After a long goodbye, the Wenatchee Valley Symphony’s music director is sticking around after all.

Nikolas Caoile, who putatively conducted his last concert for the ensemble April 12, reversed course afterward and signed a three-year extension to his contract.

“We entered into a what-if conversation, the board and search committee and the musicians, and we made a turnaround,” Caoile said today from his office at Central Washington University, where he’s director of orchestras. “Somehow, the elements came together.”
