A year ago, we had that empty feeling you get when your favored sports franchise packs up and leaves. Our hockey team, in which we had invested our loyalty and emotion, was gone to Texas.
A year later, not only do we have a hockey team, they play in the North American Hockey League, their name is Wenatchee Wild and they took their season to overtime in the fifth game of the division title series, nearly upsetting the heavily favored Fairbanks Ice Dogs. Owner David White moved his Fresno Monsters franchise north and retained famed coach Bliss Littler. They assembled a virtual expansion team of young, inexperienced players, and from a rocky start developed a unit of championship quality. Congratulations are due White, Littler, staff and especially the Wild players for a great season.
