So this is how it ends? Not with a bang, but what is sure to be a community whimper.

The Fourth of July will not be silent this year, but for what seems like the first time in decades there will be no community fireworks display at Walla Walla Point. The city of Wenatchee announced Thursday that the annual fireworks show has been canceled due to lack of funds. Needed was $21,000 by the signing deadline. Raised was $8,600, said Caryl Andre, the city recreation coordinator.
