Paul J. Ward

May 18, 1934 ~ May 1, 2014

Beloved husband, father and papa, Paul J. Ward, entered into Heaven on Thursday, May 1, 2014. He passed away at Central Washington Hospital after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Guion, AR on May 18, 1934. Paul was ten years old when his family moved to the Wenatchee Valley. He attended grade school and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1951. In 1953, he met his partner in life, Genevieve “Genny” Bottineau and they were married September 30, 1955. Paul spent his entire life working and living in Wenatchee. For 35 years, he owned and operated Ward’s Chevron in two locations, while wife, Genny, owned and operated The Wardrobe clothing store in the Wenatchee Valley Mall. He also owned Ward’s Express Lane on Grant Road for a few years, before retiring in 2000. He would be best remembered by his loyal customers for his jokes, the blue beanie hat he wore and the International Scout he drove for many years. Paul loved to fish and hunt with his sons, and time spent spoiling his only daughter. His fondest memories were the last 36 years, spent at their Lake Chelan summer home with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss our Papa every day!

The family would like to give a special thanks to his partner of 60 years, Genny, for taking such good care of him at home this past year and final days.

Preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Genny Ward; sons, Bryan and wife, Katie Ward of Wenatchee, Mike and wife, Sandy Ward of Wenatchee, and Kevin and wife, Lesly Ward of Coeur d’Alene, ID; daughter, Paula and husband, Brian Ziesmer of East Wenatchee; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 9, 2014, at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley at 10:30 a.m. Memorials are suggested to Seattle Children’s Hospital Heart Center. Arrangements by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, ,East Wenatchee.
