Fishing license requirements clarified

GRAND COULEE — Employees with the Colville Tribal Fish and Wildlife Department say ever since a new spot near Grand Coulee Dam reopened to fishing last month, fishermen have been unclear about licensing requirements.

Non-tribal members who fish from the shore of Rufus Woods Lake on the Colville Indian Reservation side only need a tribal license. Those who fish from the Douglas County or Grant County shore need a state license. Fishermen who fish from a boat — no matter which side of the lake they put their boat in the water — can have either a state or tribal fishing license, but do not need both.
