WENATCHEE — Distracted drivers can expect a lot more scrutiny from police May 19 through June 1.

That’s when extra patrols will be out in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties. They will be looking for people using cell phones, either talking or texting, and for people who are not wearing seat belts.

The extra patrols are sponsored by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
