EAST WENATCHEE —Desert Green Turf of Moses Lake expects to finish laying new sod at the Eastmont Community Park in East Wenatchee today. The turf at the soccer field was last replaced about 15 years ago. This sand-based sports grass should hold up better according to parks director Sally Brawley. She said it will take about three weeks for the turf to establish and be ready for use. She also noted that events like the carnival will be held at a different location at the park to protect the ground. The sod cost over $30,000 for material and installation. The parks department will begin a maintenance program on the fake grass in front of the goals.
