WENATCHEE — The Wenatchee Panthers boys soccer team is headed for state for the first time in almost a decade.

The Panthers defeated the Davis Pirates 1-0 on Friday at the Apple Bowl in district play to ensure a spot as one of the last 16 teams left in contention. Wenatchee — who will compete in its first state contest since 2005 — will travel to face either Kentwood or Skyview at a date yet to be determined.
