Philip Ray Snowdall

February 27, 1935 ~ August 11, 2013

Philip died peacefully Sunday afternoon, August 11, 2013, in the care of Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, AZ. His minister and second wife, Peggy, were by his side when he entered heaven. Philip was born February 27, 1935, in Elmo, MO, to Harold and Bertha Snowdall. When Philip was a few months old, his parents drove the family to Chelan, WA, with promise of a job in the apple orchards. He attended Wenatchee High School. During his senior year in 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for 12 years, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. He completed two 18 month tours of duty in Korea, 1956 and 1962, and was honorably discharged in 1965. In October 1960, he married DonnaRae Cordell. They had 48 loving years together, before her death in 2009. Philip and DonnaRae had two daughters, Susanne and Sharon. Philip worked for Alcoa Aluminum in Wenatchee for 30 years. Upon retirement, he volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department Security Patrol. When he moved to Casa Grande, AZ, he volunteered for the Police Department Citizen on Patrol program. After he remarried to Peggy and moved to Mesa, AZ, he drove the church van on Sunday morning to pick up senior church members so they could attend the Worship Service, and with Peggy, co-managed their church’s Food Pantry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Bertha Snowdall; his brother, Paul; and his first wife, DonnaRae. He is survived by second wife, Peggy; daughters, Susanne McFadden (Paul Riley) of Snohomish, WA, and Sharon Wilhelm (Todd) currently living in Dubai; and grandchildren, Stephen, Christopher, Alisa, Eric and Leah.

Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Noon at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee, WA. Donations may be made In Memory of Philip Snowdall to Hospice of the Valley, 6063 E. Arbor Avenue, Mesa, AZ 85206.
