Ruth Ellen (Miller) Lindert

May 29, 1925 ~ May 19, 2014

Ruth Ellen (Miller) Lindert passed away May 19, 2014, just ten days short of her 89th birthday, at home surrounded by her family. Ruth was born in her parent’s home at Chelan Station on May 29, 1925. She graduated from Chelan High School in 1943, then from Kinman Business School in Spokane. After attending Dental Assistant training in San Francisco, she worked for dentists in Portland, OR, and then in Chelan. After a short courtship, she and Wm. “Ervin” Lindert were married in 1951. Ruth chose to follow God’s teaching and accept him into her life at the age of nine. She and Ervin’s faith in God was the foundation of their happy marriage for 62 years. Ruth and Bill “Ervin” made their residence in Manson, WA, where she was an orchardist’s wife, a busy mother of four, as well as an apple packer for 50 years. Ruth was a very involved mother, volunteering for their children’s activities, community activities, plus helping those in need. She and Ervin enjoyed hosting foreign exchange students from several countries. She loved entertaining friends and family in her home. The twinkle in her eyes, her quick wit and mischief brought smiles to those around her. An accomplished musician, her piano playing and love of music often brought people together for Hymn Sings.

Preceding Ruth’s passing were her parents, Adam and Ada Miller; and her brothers, Royce and Dan. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wm. Ervin; her sister, Doris (Bob) Craig; three sons: Rick, who has lived with and cared for her and Ervin, Chuck, and Stan (Marcella) of Manson; and daughter, Christie (Steve) Fry of Richland, WA. She had ten grandchildren she loved: Sybylla, Dianna, Katie, Bill, Justin, Andrew, Jenna, Jason, Jake and Rosellyn.

Ruth was a cheerful trooper for the past eight years after suffering a stroke, which paralyzed her left side. She will be greatly missed by all who have known and loved her. Her family is thankful that she no longer suffers and now is in a better place.
