EAST WENATCHEE — Last year, the Cashmere and Cascade baseball teams advanced to the 1A state semifinals, where they played each other. On Saturday, the Bulldogs and Kodiaks were looking at the possibility of playing each other again, this time in a state quarterfinal contest, with the winner moving on to the semis.

But both Caribou Trail League squads fell one run short in their first-round state games at Dan White Field. As a result, two teams from the South Central Athletic Conference played for the semifinal berth, and Cascade and Cashmere saw their seasons come to disappointing finishes.
