WENATCHEE — This was supposed to be a year of rebuilding, a year to bring along the incoming core of talent and assemble a squad that would be dangerous down the road.

One thing’s for sure: Wenatchee wasn’t a sure-fire pick to make the final four in 4A baseball. In fact, making it to state — let alone surviving the first round of competition — is a goal few thought achievable when the spring season started.
