State tennis: Cashmere duo repeats as state champs

YAKIMA — Cashmere’s doubles team of Tasha Kowatsch and Sammi O’Bryan repeated as 1A/2B/1B state champions Saturday, beating Tiffanie Chai and Christian Chai of Forest Ridge 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1) in the finals at West Valley High School.

Kowatsch and O’Bryan advanced to the finals with a 6-2, 6-1 over Okanogan’s Megan Patrick and Shelby Walker in a semifinal match.

Patrick and Walker went on to finish third, beating Jesica Busey and Olivia Martin of LaSalle 6-4, 6-4.
