Drought doesn’t bode well for fire season

WENATCHEE — Drought has brought an early wildfire season to North Central Washington.

The past several months — what weather forecasters and hydrologists consider the water accumulation season — has been the second driest on record for Wenatchee, according to the National Weather Service. And drought — it is official for our area — greatly increases fire danger later in the year.
